SEO and Banking with Squidoo Lenses

If you’re not aware of the level of trust Squidoo.com has with Google then you’ve been living under a rock for a while!

The other week, in a popular affiliate forum, I was reading about a guy who complained that he could not make any money with Squidoo, even though he tried several times. It turns out the guy created a mere two lenses and linked to them from his blogspot (lol)! I think this guy needs some lessons in blackhat – that reminds me, watch out for some great BH tutorials in the coming weeks. Creating two lenses and linking to them via a blogspot is not what I’d call exploiting the real potential of some-think like Squidoo.

Amongst other methods, I’ll be using Squidoo lenses to help promote contentgeneration.org over the next few weeks – I’ll probably turn it into a case study and document everything here so others can learn from and replicate it.

Here’s what I intend to do, which I will outsource (keep in mind this is a new site):

1. Identify 100 not-too-competitive keywords for which I want this site to rank for.
2. Create 100 lenses for the above terms and link to contentgeneration.org with the same anchor text.
3. Interlink 5 lenses – so each lense links to any other five lenses (I could link more but this should be enough).
4. Promote the lenses creatively ;-)

Not only should this help my site rank, but it will also generate targeted traffic.

If I was the above guy from the affiliate forum, I’d do something similar. Find a profitable niche, identify 100 converting keywords, create lenses with affiliate links, interlink any 5 at a time, and promote as much as possible – social bookmarking sites, forums, blogs, guest books, etc. Then move on to the next niche!

Here’s a useful, free tool that helps you find available Squidoo lenses: http://bumdemon.com/ And here’s a screen shot.

You think that the recent slpadown of squidoo will be long lived?

Definitely not! Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks ;-)
