TDNAM for Cheap Domains with PageRank
I’ve mentioned this on several forums, but I’ll recap here because someone recently left me a comment about it.
Tens of thousands of domains expire everyday. But, for some unknown reason, a small percentage retain their PR and backlinks, and TDNAM is an ideal place to find and buy them cheaply. However, because of the sheer quantity that expire, trying to find the quality domains manually is exceptionally difficult.
So, a while back I built a TDNAM URL scraper and PR checker tool, and have since bought many, many PR 3, 4 and some PR 5 domains for less than $15 each!
I won’t provide the tool I wrote, but it’s easy enough to build your own with VB/C#.
Download the DLL component and add a project reference to it (project->add reference). And, here’s some simple VB code that get Google’s PR and backlink count.
Imports PRChecker
…
Dim informer As GInformer = New PrInformer()
Dim backlink As GInformer = New BackLinksInformer()
Dim pagerank, backlinks As Integerpagerank = informer.GetInfo(”http://google.com”)
backlinks = backlink.GetInfo(”http://google.com”)

how good are these at getting indexed?
They’re already indexed. But, because of the existing backlinks they can normally rank better than a fresh domain.
We run a service that indexes these domains from TDNAM several times daily - and list them with PR/Links/Age stats. And yes, I agree, there’s an abundance of great domains dropping every day. For $14 you can’t beat the price either.
hey dude you got an rss feed…?
Got some good stuff here, thsnks…

Expired domains are short lived.
I ran a number of tests and what I can see - Google has an expired domain filter.
So say good-bye to your PR in the next PR update.
Also, you can kiss any new backlinks you’ve acquired to the site good-bye, because the filter appears to discard these also.
You’ll still be indexed, but that doesn’t matter if you’re not ranking!
From personal experience, I disagree Frank. I’ve bought many expired domains that have retained their PR.
[…] just one example of using SP Marketplace: I recently bought a bingo-based domain from TDNAM with PR and backlinks for less than $15. I bought it because, other than being an absolute bargain, […]
Is the PR Checker DLL component still available for download? The link above does not work.
You can use this website to do the same thing, it also shows some other metrics such as Alexa data: http://vintagedomainnames.com/
You can go to www.freshdrop.net . They show all Page Rank and other analytics on all TDNAM auction names.
The tool is free!!!
http://dopedomains.com/ scans almost 20,000 new tdname auctions a day and collects Pagerank (and does verification checks) as well as yahoo backlink counts, Alexa ratings, and DMOZ listing information.
